Skill demonstration pre-approval

Once you successfully complete your exam, the next phase is to prepare for the skill demonstration. Preparing your skill demonstration is no small feat, and we want to set you up for success.

The skill demonstration is your opportunity to demonstrate your skills and experience, in alignment with the Institute’s Competencies for Performance and Learning Professionals © and grounded in the Institute’s Ethical Code of Conduct.

Selecting a project that meets the criteria

Your work product submission must be an original and current project undertaken in the past two years, and you must be authorized to submit the supporting documentation.

Please ensure you obtain permission from your employer or client to submit the project materials for the purposes of your skill demonstration prior to commencing Certification.

It is important that you select a project that will enable you to demonstrate the competencies for performance and learning professionals in action.

CTP skill demonstration options

CTP Candidates demonstrate their competence in Partnering with clients, plus one of the following Competency areas:

  • Designing learning experiences (coming 2027)
  • Facilitating learning

CTDP skill demonstration options

CTDP Candidates demonstrate their competence in Partnering with clients, plus one of the following Competency areas:

  • Assessing performance needs
  • Designing curricula (coming 2027)
  • Designing learning experiences

  • Evaluating learning (coming 2027)

Prior to commencing your skill demonstration submission, we ask you to share the context behind the project or program you have chosen, the performance challenge you will be addressing, and your initial approach. This is to ensure you are likely to have the opportunity to demonstrate the Competencies in action.

A member of the assessor team will review what you share, and share feedback and suggestions about the topic and approach.

5

Skill demonstration submission

Once your skill demonstration has been pre-approved, you should begin preparing your skill demonstration to ensure it is ready to submit in the skill demonstration window.

6
